Zanariah Abdullah has involved in organic synthesis for more than 20 years. She continued her research in application of florescent molecules in surface chemistry,
ionic liquids and biological activities studies. She is currently the Dean of Faculty of Science, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
